If you have visited Pike PlaceMarket in Seattle then you have probably happened upon the very popular MarketTheatre Gum Wall. Located underneath ground level this unusual attraction is
dedicated to the chewed piece of gum. This unique gum wall generates thousands
of tourists a year who flock from all corners of the country to stick their
gnawed gum among the other pieces of gum decorating the wall of the Market
Theatre.

There is no denying that this
brightly colored gum wall, which has been deemed one of the germiest
attractions in the world, turns masticated gum into art. With the knowledge
that gum is created from a non-biodegradable substance this gum wall will most
likely be around for centuries.
It makes one curious regarding
societies perception of gum pollution and how people discard their chewed gum.
Why do people consider it acceptable behavior to litter, openly and publicly,
in a location like this when they should be outraged that a tradition like this
even began?
The white dots are chewing gum spat on the street.
If you were searching for a new
home would you walk along the sidewalk and be swayed to buy, or not buy, by the
years of discarded gum cemented to the sidewalk in front of the new property?
Would you have the same reaction if someone had littered the front of the
property with empty cups, crushed soda cans, and crinkled newspapers? Would
dried up gum outside of a restaurant deter you from stepping inside for dinner?
Gum litter has become an accepable
behavior in this country and it's time to stop ignoring this type of muck and
start thinking responsibly.
I challenge anyone to take a walk
down any sidewalk and see the destruction that gum pollution leaves behind on
our city streets. It has become unmanageable. Educating ourselves, and our
children, on how to discard our chewing gum is the easiest way to start
breaking the bad habit of spitting out germ infested gum. Gum pollution
awareness starts with being responsible and learning how to discard gum
properly. The easiest way to be proactive in the fight against gum pollution is
by using WraperZwhen it's time to throw away chewed gum.
Don't spit it out, don't swallow
it, just WraperZ it and keep nasty chewed gum waste off our streets.

This article is a contribution of our host blogger, Joe Brucker.
Thank you, Joe Brucker, for your following thoughts on chewing gum pollution. Joe wrote:
"With the
average person chewing 300 pieces of gum per year it's hard not to ask
yourself, "Where does all this chewed gum go when the consumer has savored
the last bit of flavor from their stick of gum?"
Chewing gum pollution. Unwanted gum full of germs and bacteria
ends up on the streets.

The answer
is simple. The remains of chewed gum can be found on the streets, on airplane
leather seats, park benches, and sticking to the bottom of our shoes on a hot
summer day. Chewed pieces of gum are often placed inbetween library books,
stuck to the backside of our most expensive jeans, and just about anywhere else
an irresponsible gum chewer decides to spit out their finished piece of gum.
Unfortunately,
we blindly trample over thousands of chewed pieces of gum that decorate the
sidewalks and streets of our neighborhoods without any concern for what it is
doing to the landscape of our planet. It would be hard to find a city where you
could not play connect the dots with discarded chewing gum glued to the
sidewalk.
People from
all over the globe have come together to bring gum pollution awareness to their
neighborhoods and cities but you do not need an entire city to start making a
difference. Having a product like WraperZ in your back pocket to correctly
discard your old chewing gum, and keep it off the bottom of our shoes, is
something all avid gum chewers can do to help keep gum off our streets."
3. Lazy people spit gum out everywhere. Responsible people will alway dispose of it in a way to protect the environment. Become the RESPONSIBLE one and WRAP your gum!
4. It is a costly affair to clean our sidewalks from chewing gum pollution. Wrapping and tossing your gum away doesn't cost a dime. Hiring companies to clean up our cities and public areas can cost millions of dollars annually!
